During the American Revolution, the British troops were great in number, well-trained, had a lot of weapons, ammunition, and were experienced in battles and war strategies.

They far outnumbered the colonists that were fighting for freedom and were considered to be one of the strongest naval and military forces at that time. Every place that the British had invaded, they had won.

They had never lost in any of their conquests, and this gave them a bloated sense of confidence. It is no surprise that the British assumed that they would win against the Continental Army.

However, they underestimated the desire of the colonists to have their freedom as well as the alliances that they had made with the French and Native Indians.

It’s difficult to believe that the Revolutionary War only lasted a bit over eight years, but during that time, there were many battles, a lot of injuries and loss of life.
