Paul Revere

No story about the American Revolution is complete without talking about the famous ride of Paul Revere. He tirelessly road to warn the colonists that the British were coming and that they needed to defend themselves.

The other purpose of the ride was to alert those members of the militia that had returned home to take care of their harvest that they needed to leave to come back to fight.

 

Where did they live?

Paul Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1734. As the son of a silversmith, he was also trained in that trade. But Revere wasn’t happy with the crushing hand of the British rule of the colonies, and he joined the Sons of Liberty.

This was a group of political patriots that longed for colonial freedom. Other members that were with Revere included John Hancock, Samuel Adams, John Adams, and Patrick Henry.

• During the American Revolution, Revere continued to serve in the Army. Once the war was over, he returned to his business as a silversmith. Paul Revere died in 1818, an American hero.
